DAA Nominated In International Social Media Awards

November 15, 2012

Dublin Airport, owned and operated by DAA, has been short-listed for three international awards for its use of social media.

Dublin Airport has picked up three nominations in The Moodies, the world’s first airport-specific digital, mobile and social media awards. The awards take their name from The Moodie Report, which is a publisher and website operator devoted to the global travel retail industry.

Dublin Airport has been shortlisted in the Best Overall Use of Social Media category, the Best Airport Twitter Feed category, and Best Airport/Retail Marketing Campaign for its recent Dubliners @DublinAirport campaign category.

More than 160 submissions were received for the awards and Dublin Airport is short-listed alongside airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Amsterdam Schiphol, and Singapore Changi. The winners will be announced next month.

“We are delighted to have been recognised alongside some of our international peers for excellence in the field of social media,” said DAA Public Affairs Director, Paul O’Kane. “We plan to continue to grow our overall social presence and to expand our activities in this area,” he added.

Dublin Airport has been active on Twitter for more than two years and has significantly expanded its social media presence in recent months, adding Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and SoundCloud accounts.

The Moodies nomination for the Dubliners @Dublin Airport campaign, which promoted DAA’s sponsorship of The Corn Exchange/Dublin Theatre Festival production of Dubliners, is the second such accolade for the online promotion in the past 10 days. It has also been nominated in social media category at the 2012 Irish Sponsorship Awards.
